Ask Yourself the Question,
“Will This Matter a year from Now?”
Almost every day I play a game with myself that I call “time warp.” I made it up in response to my consistent, erroneous belief that what I was all worked up about was really important.
To play “time warp,†all you have to do is imagine that whatever circumstance you are dealing with isn’t happening right now but a year from now. Then simply ask yourself, “Is this situation really as important as I’m making it out to be?†Once in a great while it may be-but a vast majority of the time, it simply isn’t.
Whether it be an argument with your spouse, child, or boss, a mistake, a lost opportunity, a lost wallet, a work-related rejection, or a sprained ankle, chances are, a year from now you aren’t going to care. It will be one more irrelevant detail in your life. While this simple game won’t solve all your problem, it can give you an enormous amount of needed perspective. I find myself laughing at things that I used to take far to seriously. Now, rather than using up my energy feeling angry and overwhelmed, I can use it instead on spending time with my wife and children or engaging in creative thinking.
So now you ask where all of that came from? Well it is actually a chapter in Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff… By Richard Calson PHD, you can pick it up at your local bookstore or online here Amazon.com I bought this book a while ago probably over 2 years ago now in response to some very uneasy feelings that I had. Many of them have seemed to subside but many of them also still exist…every once in a whlie I grab this book out and open it and read whatever chapter I happen to stumble upon and this one was the most recent but also possible one of the most significant to me for not only my application but as something i think many people would benefit from. truth be told a year from now not much will matter…think about it what were you doing today a year ago? Think really hard about it and you can let me know later…possibly an exercise which might help you understand this would be to take a moment…maybe put 10 – 15 mins aside at some point and really think hard about what you truly remember from last year. what were your highlights and what you would say was important…now think about how much you worry about now and how much you get bent out of shape over…2 totally different lists…in comparison your current list will probably seem so stupid and as you do it, you will see just how insignificant it really is… and when you look at your current list think about it. I am sure you were angered by something identical if not very similar in the past year. But you don’t even remember it happening…

That is just great…more people should do it…hotlinking sucks…there are plenty of free hosts you can go to if you want to spread your shit around or you could also just get your own server….why do people have to mooch off of everyone else?

So Here is the IP address that traces back to the last poll sabatoge. It really offends me that the person that did this did it again. It isn’t that hard to figure out who did it and it was suspicious when it was coming from our other company location but was completely obvious when it moved to his personal VPS server and now he went home and used a Public proxy. (he is probably the person i have heard talk the most about public proxies ever)

To him,
1st time it was funny
2nd time was annoying
3rd time your an ass
I really would like to thank him for being such an ass over something that is so stupid. Really makes me not want to be around him and really ruined the fun of it all. It was supposed to be fun but you know there always is that bad apple and damn this one sucked.

Well the results are in. I wanted to wait to make sure I was able to get the numbers off of the offical times…which they posted on Races2Run.com Now Matts time isn’t recorded as him. We believe that he is the unknown runner at position 388. Also Nick Leamy’s name was misspelled.
Place No. NAME FiveK Pace
——————————————-
223. 223 Kellen M. 29:36 9:33
388. 390 Matt F. 47:19 15:16
397. 399 Crystal B. 47:44 15:24
398. 400 Karrie H. 47:45 15:25
434. 436 Nicholas L. 52:06 16:49
I will say it was a very valiant effort by Matt. From the reports i have he was able to keep up with kellen through the first mile and was just behind her until the 2nd mile where it started to rain and that caused a bit of a slowdown. I think that Matt went into this with big shoes to fill and he tried very hard. In the end reality sets in when you realize that Kellen runs all of the time and matt hasn’t run in years….but there are rumors that next year the race will have a very different outcome…let the training begin.
